Hey, thanks for checking out our website. We are excited that you’re looking at building a log home.

As you may have noticed we are a little different than other log home companies. Rather than “pitching” you and making a hard sell, we want to help educate you on the best options when it comes to building your dream home. We want you to learn about the different log home styles, designs and types of wood so that you can be confident you are getting a home you will love.

Once you have made some decisions on the type of log home you want to build, we can provide you with a quote. Even if you still have not figured everything out yet, we can help you every step of the way.

Here are some of the things we need to know to help create a quote for building your home:

1.   Tell us a little bit about yourself:

We like to design homes that reflect the people and families that will live in them. Telling us about yourself and what is important to you will help determine the type of home you want to build. A home is one of the largest investments anyone will ever make so we want to make sure we get it right for you!

2.   Do you know where you are going to build? And do you own the land?

It’s important to know exactly where you’re going to be building your home. Sometimes you might have a design in mind; but when you find the land you want to build on, there might be key features like a hill or view you want to incorporate into that design.

We have had the pleasure of building around the world; many countries have different standards or requirements that need to be followed in order to pass building codes.

3.   What is your time frame?

When do you want to start the project and does it need to be completed by a certain date? Building in remote northern locations with below-zero winter temperatures may be impossible because the ground is frozen. By understanding your time frame we can work with Mother Nature to ensure your home is built on schedule, keeping in mind the weather conditions.

4.   Do you already have a design?

In many cases we have clients that have been plugging away at designing their own home for the last 10 years. We love it when people are finally able to bring their designs on paper to reality. We can work with any of your designs that you or another designer created.

If you don’t have a plan in mind yet, we have a number of designs that you can look at to get ideas. We focus on making each log home unique so we can use one design as a starting point and integrate other ideas and inspirations that you have for your home.

Take a look at our plans gallery to get an idea.

5.   What style of log home do you prefer?

Are you looking for a full scribe, timber frame, post and beam or a hybrid log home? The style of home will affect other elements in designing and building your log home.

Not sure what the differences are between full scribe, timber frame, post and beam or a hybrid log home? Check out this article: The difference between full scribe, timber frame, post & beam and hybrid log homes

Next Steps

From there we can begin or finalize your design and provide you with an accurate quote and timeline.

Once the project is started we will keep you informed with updates and pictures. If during the building stage you would like to come out to the log yard and see your home being built we can arrange that too. It’s always a great experience to watch the process and see your home arise before your eyes.

So, if you are new to our site we invite you to browse our Learning Hub page which might provide answers to some of your questions.
