Skilled Log Home Builder

Full-Time position at our Mission B.C. yard

Artisan Log Homes (Valkyrie Holdings Ltd.) is one of the leading construction companies in designing, creating and building log cabins and log structures. The company is located at 10596 Shaw St, Mission, BC V4S 1J4. It is considered to be one of the oldest established in Western Canada and its known for developing of log home plans of any style and building log cabins and home construction since 1973.

Our company is currently looking for an experienced Log Home Builder to join our dynamic team in this full-time project-based position.

Job Duties:

• draft and interpret: 3D drawings/blueprints/detailed joinery drawings
• determine layout of logs and timber joinery
• measure, cut, shape and assemble logs, timbers, lumber material and other wood components
• assemble, install and erect log and timber homes and structures (full scribed log – log post and beam – timber framed and hybrid homes & structures)
• design, draft, manufacture and install log and timber roof trusses
• framing (stud walls and roofs)
• cut and install stairs, fascia and trim
• calculate timber lists and labor costs

Job Requirements:

• Completion of apprenticeship as a carpenter
• Completion of trade-specific training (log building and/or timber framing certificate required)
• 4 years of experience as a carpenter building houses
• Experience in using specialized woodworking tools such as chainsaws, large diameter circular saws, belly and flat planers etc.

Required Skills:

• computer drafting skills
• blueprints and drawings interpretation skills
• on site framing and assembling skills
• good knowledge of wood to wood and steel to wood connection and joinery
• good knowledge of trade terminology and material requirements

Salary and Conditions:

• Full-time employment: $30/hour – 40 hours per week

Note: this is not a regular Carpenter position. Training and knowledge of log building is required.
