Artisan over the years has had the chance to work with some amazing companies and people. Without a question, we are always ecstatic when we are asked to work with another local company. When we were first approached by the team at Lacey Developments to help design and build 7-executive Post and Beam log cabins at a local golf resort in Harrison Mills, it was extremely humbling and a very exciting moment.
When presented with the project and timeline, we knew it was going to be an ambitious project.
There was no question about wanting to be apart, so we jumped on board and began the incredible 9-month journey from conception to completion. The custom design work was done by Streamline Design within a couple of weeks and thus we were off.
The first step was to handpick every log for each cabin. Artisan ended up choosing and going with a large diameter Western Red Cedar from the North Coast of BC. Once the logs arrived in the log yard, the handcrafted work began.
Throughout the Winter and Spring of 2018-2019, the crew at Artisan worked tirelessly to produce these amazing cabins and meet the strict deadlines. Soon after, all 7 cabins were re-assembled by the Spring of 2019, with custom interior log stairs and railings soon to follow.
Working alongside the talented and focused team from Lacey Developments these cabins came together flawlessly and on schedule.
The Kermode Cabin is nestled along the 14th hole of Sandpiper Resort in Harrison Mills. This specific cabin features locally sourced materials, including western red cedar logs from Haida Gwaii, top to bottom Woodtone tongue-and-groove wall and ceiling coverings, and custom-colour-matched pine trim/baseboards.
Lacey Construction received a CHBA Georgie Award for “best single-family detached home up to 2,300 square feet under $500,000 – production” for Kermode Cabin at Sandpiper Resort in Harrison Mills. This was the third win for the Kermode Cabin, and the Lacey Constructions’ first Georgie Award.
The Georgie Awards opens to all CHBA BC member companies in B.C. and celebrates excellence in home-building and renovation in British Columbia.
To be eligible for an award, CHBA BC members submitted entries that were built, renovated, developed, created and/or marketed during the period of Jan. 1, 2018 to Sept. 30, 2019. The finalists and winners were selected by a panel of out-of-province industry professionals.
The 28th Annual Georgie Awards gala was held on June 26 for the first time ever via a virtual format hosted by Todd Talbot, co-host of Love It or List It Vancouver.
