Wisconsin Log Homes: A Home Owners Dream

Recently Artisan Log Homes of BC had the privilege in exporting a Western Red Cedar Post and Beam log home to Wisconsin.  This Wisconsin log home was designed and built in British Columbia, Canada using the finest Western Red Cedar available.  The homeowners, who grew up in Northern Wisconsin, contacted Artisan Log Homes in 2012 with their ideas, log home sketches and a dream to build a Post and Beam log home on their family’s homestead.  After about 3 months of designing, their dream log home in Wisconsin was getting closer to reality.

That fall, Artisan Log Homes hand picked all the Western Red Cedar building logs for the Wisconsin log home and wintered them at their log yard.  This allowed for the large diameter Western Red Cedar logs to naturally dry and be ready for construction the following Spring.  Before we knew it, the snow was gone and construction began for this custom Wisconsin log home.  The homeowners wanted a very natural look to their cedar logs, so Artisan Log homes carefully debarked all the Wisconsin Western Red Cedar logs by hand and finally polished them to give them an amazing natural look.

The Western Red Cedar logs were carefully selected for each area of the Wisconsin log home and meticulously cut and fit together by hand.  There were over 45 Western Red Cedar log posts and over 1000 lin. ft of Western Red Cedar log beams that went into the construction of this Wisconsin log home. Arriving July 15th on the homestead in Northern Wisconsin were three of Artisans log home builders and of course the Wisconsin log home shell. Three days later, the Wisconsin post and beam log home was re-assembled and ready for the roof framing to begin.  The home owners were very pleased and exited about their new large diameter, Western Red Cedar Wisconsin log home.
